- 1 tbsp smoked paprika
- 1 tbsp cumin
- 2 tsp oregano or Mexican oregano
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp cloves
- 1/2 tsp chili flakes to taste
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine all of the ingredients.1 tbsp cumin, 2 tsp oregano, 1 tbsp smoked paprika, 2 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp ground black pepper, 1/4 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp cloves, 1/2 tsp chili flakes
- Stir the spices until they are thoroughly mixed.
- Store the spice mix in an airtight container until you're ready to use it.
Notes
How to use it: This recipe makes about 4 tablespoons of barbacoa seasoning and you can use it to season 2 lb of chicken, beef, or lamb meat. Use it as a dry rub or mix it with 1/4 cup olive oil and 1/4 cup of fresh orange juice to make a quick marinade.
Storage: You can store this homemade spice blend in an airtight container such as a mason jar in a dark and cool place for up to 6 months.
