Brown sugar whipped cream adds a subtle caramel flavor to your favorite cakes and desserts. It’s quick and easy to make with just 3 simple ingredients and 5 minutes of your time.
Combine cream, brown sugar, and vanilla extract in a large bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer.
3 tbsp brown sugar, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 1 cup heavy cream
Start whipping the mixture at low speed with a hand mixer or your stand mixer to prevent splattering. Gradually increase to medium-high speed. Reduce back to medium speed once medium peaks begin to form. You're not looking for stiff peaks! The cream should be firm enough to hold its shape but not over-whipped to maintain a smooth texture. Stop whipping just before you think it's done as it will thicken slightly afterwards.
Taste the whipped cream and adjust sweetness if necessary.

Notes
Gradual sweetening: You can easily use a little bit less brown sugar if you like lightly sweetened cream. Simply add sugar gradually, tasting as you go. This way, you can customize the sweetness level to suit your preferences.Over-whipped: If your cream has become a little grainy, simply add a splash of heavy cream to smooth out the mixture.Storage: You can prepare the whipped cream ahead and store it in the refrigerator for up to a day. Whip it briefly before serving to restore its fluffy texture. I do not recommend freezing whipped cream as the texture changes once thawed.
