Why you’ll love my easy Chipotle seasoning

Saving money is one of the many benefits of homemade seasonings but you’ll also save time by having them prepped and ready to use.

  • Natural ingredients: Skip the store-bought chipotle spice mix to avoid any artificial flavors, MSG, or preservatives. Choose high-quality natural flavors for this homemade seasoning to take your from-scratch recipes to the next level.
  • Customizable heat: Adjust the amount of chipotle powder to create your perfect heat level.
  • Versatile blend: Think beyond chicken! You can add this smoky blend to a variety of other meats, vegetables, sauces, stews, soups, and snacks.

Ingredients

Chipotle spice mix ingredients on parchment paper.
  • Chipotle pepper: Choose a high-quality chipotle powder for the best smoky heat.
  • Paprika: Smoked paprika adds extra smokiness but regular paprika works too.
  • Cumin and coriander: Cumin adds warmth and depth, while coriander adds a citrusy brightness to this blend.
  • Oregano: Mexican oregano has a more citrusy note but dried oregano is ok to use as well.
  • Onion and garlic: Garlic powder and onion powder give seasoning blends a concentrated savory flavor.
  • Salt & pepper: Sea salt and ground black pepper work best.

How to use Chipotle spice mix

Season your favorite Mexican dishes incl. burritos, quesadillas, and chipotle chicken bowls. Or try this DIY spice blend with different types of meat, seafood, vegetables, sauces, soups, stews, or even snacks.

Start with 1 tablespoon of seasoning per 1 pound of meat or vegetables. Adjust to taste based on other ingredients and desired flavor intensity.

  • Perfect meat rubs:  This chipotle seasoning creates a fantastic dry rub or marinade with some olive oil for lamb or pork chops, chicken thighs, or your favorite beef dishes.
  • Smoky chipotle roasted vegetables: Sprinkle it on vegetables before roasting for a flavorful and healthy side dish.
  • Spicy soups and stews: Add some smokiness to your favorite chili, bean stew, or hearty goulash soup.
  • Hot sauces: Add this mix to homemade hot sauces, mayonnaise, or BBQ sauces to add some heat and instant smokiness.
  • Smoky snacks: This spicy seasoning is a great addition to crackers, roasted nuts or chickpeas, and even popcorn for a smoky flavor.
